Opening Round: bell rings and Richard Gingras waste no time in walking straight up to Deon Elam and unloading some beautiful body shots, you can tell straight away his game plan is to pressure Deon and wear him down. Richard is a smart fighter though and gets up on his toes to move away, from there he keeps Richard away with his powerful straight punches unloading 3-4 power punch combos at a time picking his targets perfectly. A great round by Deon, 10-9 on my card.

Round 2: Deon now has the engine warm and now he is the aggressive fighter, he puts Richard on the ropes on unloads with some very nice 4-5 punch combo’s with hooks and upper cuts rocking Richards head back. After the ref says break you see a cut that’s been opened up by Deon above Richards eye. Referee lets the judges know that the cut was caused by a punch; this lets the judges know that if the cut gets any worse and the fight will be stopped with Deon being awarded the winner.  After Deon’s attacks he is back up on his toes moving away using his long jab to keep Richard at bay. Richard now knows with a cut he must walk in and win this fight as soon as possible as the fight could be stopped any second, only thing is Deon picks him apart with hard counter punches. Richard finally lands a beautiful upper cut giving Deon a flip top head, it’s a painful punch but Deon finishes the round the stronger fighter. 10-9 again for Deon.

Round 3: Both fighters seem to be a little more tired this round, Richard still coming forward desperate to find a home for his punches. Deon tries to keep him away with his longer jabs and when Richard gets in close Deon ties his arms up so he can not punch. Richard lands a nice overhand right just before the end of the round pushing Deon into the corner. Close round with both fighters having there moments, going to go out on a limb here and call it a 10-10 round.

Round 4: Richard walks in again pushing the fight; Deon doesn’t seem to have the same snap in his punches as before but still throwing effective combos while Richard throws the more dangerous shots. Deon peppers Richard with fast hands scoring the points but every time Richard lands the crowd are on their feet because one good shot and the fight could be over. Near the end of the round Richard lands an over land right putting Deon on wobbly legs street almost buckling him for an 8 count, Deon holds on though to finish the round. Very exciting round, I give it to Deon though 10-9 as he landed the cleaner shots.

Round 5: Richard really needs a knock out if he wants to win this fight. Richard loads up with bombs looking for the big shot but for every shot he lands Deon lands 4. last half of the round Deon gets a second wind, he starts landing with long hooks and upper cuts that look painful but Richard keeps coming forward with the never say die attitude but not enough punches to win the round. Another exciting round once again by both fighters, I would score it 10-9 to Deon.

Great fight, best fight so far. I scored it 50-46; the Contender judges scored the fight  50-45, 49-46, 48-47 to the winner Deon Elam. Out of all the fighters that have competed so far I think the favourite now to win the Contender belt this year would have to be Deon, he has all the punches and the power to mix it with the best in the world. Richard Gingras can hold his head up high as well, he put up a great fight and with a little more experience will be a dangerous opponent for anybody.
