Deon even things up for the Gold, but may have put himself in a tough position by not facing Cora in the first round. Now he may face one of his own team members from Gold. As Tony states, sometimes the enemy you know is better than the enemy you don’t know. It will be interesting to see who in the Gold Team would square off against Deon. Who would you like to see go up against Deon if you had to choose someone from Gold?

Back in the Gold Team’s room they were shocked how Richard came out that night and fought. Be careful what you wish for Deon said, which is true. What you see in the gym, you might not get in the ring. There’re a lot of things a fighter will not show when we knows his opponent is watching him train. So expect the unexpected.

Darnell continued to struggle with weight and his eating habits, which were picked up by John Bray and his opponent’s trainer Tommy Brooks. Both trainers knew this was going to be a weakness the Gold Team would take advantage of. They Did.

At the call out, the Gold Team sent Hino Ehikhamenor (12-3-0 7KOs) to the lions den.  He chose to go up against the man they call “Ding-a-Ling,” Darnell Wilson, a knockout artist in the fight game.

Darnell was as high as 210lbs. and had to get down to 200lbs. to fight. This was not a good position for Darnell to be in, no matter how hard he hits. Hino explains since day 1, Darnell has been struggling with weight. “He’s not even working on his boxing skills; it’s going to show in the fight mentally and physically. He can get weak after the first round then I’m going to send him home,” says Hino. Hino hit it right on the money, totally accurate as to what was going to happen.

Rounds One and Two, Hino dictated the rounds, popping his jab, making Darnell miss and scoring a knock down in a heated exchange in the end of round one. Darnell was caught with a sharp right hand and left hook. It was a flash knockdown which he was not hurt from.

Round Three was a great round for both fighters as they exchanged explosive shots, which I had round three even.

Rounds Four and Five, Darnell continued to try to throw one shot at a time looking to land a knock out punch as he fell way behind in the fight. Hino on the other hand dominated, winning the exchanges and beating Darnell to the punch. He kept Darnell at the end of his jab and exchanged when he had too. Another good performance from the Gold Team.

Darnell realized his mistake in the end, the weight loss made him weak, sluggish and fatigued.  He didn’t listen to John Bray either who called this weight issue from the beginning. These fighters have to listen to the trainers. Hino picked up on Darnell’s weakness and capitalized on it. He seized the opportunity, fought a perfect fight and is going to be another strong force in the Contender.

Who do you think will be Hino’s next opponent? Eleven fighters left, who’s your favorite at this point to win it all?
