Stage 20 Preview
By Paul Sherwen
There is nothing else to be said about this legendary stage as it's all about the Mont Ventoux. This stage will be talked about for years to come- it's a brave move by the organisers to put this climb within 24 hours from the finish line in Paris. Physically challenging for the riders but also technically challenging for the event providing us the fans with a magic spectacle.
The one hundred mile ride takes the remnants of the field from Montelimar to the fabled mountain of Provence. It is the road up to the summit of this "Giant of Provence" that will decide the final podium positions in Paris.
It should be a day for the Schlecks to come out and play and try and get older brother Frank into third place overall. However seven time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong knows that this mountain can make or break his 2009 podium dream. Knowing him as we do, we know that he will be up to the challenge.
Which ever way it goes it will be a magnificent battle over the whole of the 21 kms (13 miles) climb. Don't forget Versus has arranged to have a commercial free one hour in order to cover the whole of the climb - LIVE.
