Stage 21 Review
By Phil Liggett
It was, as expected, a traditional end to the Tour de France in Paris; a win for Contador, the best sprinter (Cavendish) winning the final stage and Lance Armstrong confirming a near-perfect comeback with a third place finish. Everyone, it seems returns home from a sunny Paris very satisfied with three excellent weeks of racing.
There was little racing on this final stage, as there rarely is, but the atmosphere made up for this and the final lead-out from George Hincapie and Mark Renshaw duly delivered Mark Cavendish to the line for his amazing sixth stage win of the race.
Alberto Contador was clearly the best rider in the race, but next year with the development of Andy Schleck and the new team of Lance Armstrong, anything goes, and probably will.
Thanks for watching in such large number of Versus and to the millions of you who came on line here.
Until the next race!
