On behalf of millions of passionate sports fans, we are disappointed that DirecTV has chosen to remove VERSUS from its service and deny its subscribers access to our all-encompassing coverage of the sports they love. Since our last deal with DirecTV, VERSUS has added many marquee properties and has become one of the fastest growing sports cable networks in the country. VERSUS offered DirecTV a fair and reasonable offer to carry the network. We have simply asked DirecTV to carry VERSUS at a comparable level of distribution as it does today at the same market price that other operators are paying. We hope DirecTV will make the right decision for its customers and put VERSUS back on the air.

Why did DirecTV drop VERSUS? 

We are surprised that DirecTV has decided to drop VERSUS and deny sports fan the coverage of the sports they love. Since our last deal with DirecTV, the network has added a number of marquee sports properties and is one of the fastest growing sports networks in the country. VERSUS offered DirecTV the ability to carry the network at a comparable level of distribution as it does today at the market rate that other operators are paying. Rather than accept any of VERSUS’ fair and reasonable offers, DirecTV chose to remove VERSUS from its programming lineup.

 

Do you think an agreement will be reached soon? 

We hope DirecTV will make the right decision and put VERSUS back on the air so that sports fans don’t miss out on college football games featuring nationally ranked teams, the start of the NHL season, the final IndyCar races of the season, the Tour de France as well as live WEC and PBR events and much, much more. We are continuing to talk to DirecTV and are making every effort possible to reach a deal as quickly as possible.
