If you're wondering why you haven't heard any news about Josh Grispi's next fight, well, there's a good reason for that.
Versus.com has learned that the 21-year-old WEC featherweight contender recently underwent right ankle surgery, and will now be sidelined for several months.
Grispi's manager Scott Lockhart informed Versus.com of the news on Friday. Lockhart said Grispi went under the knife on Oct. 2, and expects to get his cast off in early December. Then, if all goes well with his rehab, Grispi (13-1) should return to WEC action in March. The injury had been bothering Grispi for several months before he finally decided to get the surgery.
The native of Plympton, Mass., is coming off an impressive 33-second submission victory over Jens Pulver at WEC 41 in June. He has won his last nine fights in a row, including notable victories over Mark Hominick and Micah Miller.
Lockhart said WEC has yet to talk about any future opponents for Grispi, who is currently ranked as the 9th best 145-pound fighter in the world in Versus.com's MMA rankings.
